Go to Article Mobility of wheelchairs Using Blumrich's Omnidirectional Wheel for wheelchair mobility sounds great but it isn't practical. You can roll forward and backward by connecting the center to an axle. How do you convey motive power to the segment resting on the ground so the wheel can roll sideways? Blumrich doesn't claim that Ezekiel's wheels carried the driving force, like the tires of a car. He only claims that Ezekiel's wheels turned for some reason, like the wheels of a baby carriage being pushed.
